MIB: Primo anniversario!

22 Agosto 2007: Sembra ieri, ed è già passato un anno…

È passato un anno da quando, con pochissime risorse ma con tanto entusiasmo, è stato dato il via a questo progetto.

Nato quasi per scherzo, per sopperire alla mancanza in Mandriva di alcuni programmi, per portarne versioni piu’ aggiornate, o anche solo per portarne versioni ottimizzate.

Tale progetto si e’ realizzato, dal concepimento al parto, in 4 giorni di fuoco, dal 18 agosto 2007 giorno in cui si sono scambiate le prime e-mail tra inventore1 e NicCo , alla sua nascita, pubblicamente comunicata, il 22 agosto 2007.

Dapprima il MIB supportava solamente l’architettura i686, ma lungo la strada, ha integrato il supporto all’architettura i586, e con l’arrivo di Symbianflo anche alla x86_64, poi avvalendosi dell’aiuto di validissimi e attivi collaboratori, come grissino, ha potuto continuare anche il supporto alle versioni meno recenti di Mandriva.

Grazie all’impegno di tutti sono stati preparati quasi 10.000 RPM, tra pacchetti per Mandriva 2007.1, 2008.0 e 2008.1

E per meglio supportare i pacchetti e gli utenti, oltre i repository, sono stati prontamente aperti un Blog ed un relativo Forum, che cerchiamo di curare al meglio compatibilmente con il tempo a disposizione.

Nell’estate del 2008 vengono aperti due nuovi canali IRC dedicati a Mandriva e in particolare al lavoro del MIB.

Nel frattempo il MIB si è specializzato nella realizzazione di alcune Live, basate su Mandriva One, ma più complete. Tra esse le MIB Live prog, per uso professionale, e le MIB Live Games, contenenti una vasta raccolta di giochi.

Per il suo primo anniversario il MIB ha pubblicato due nuove MIB Live Games, questa volta in due DVD, dato il considerevole numero di giochi che non sarebbero entrati in un solo DVD.

One year from when, with a few resources the project started.

It was born nearly as a joke to fill the lack in Mandriva of some programs and to backport newer versions, or just to  port optimized versions..

The idea came in mind on 18th of august 2007, saw the light in only 4 days, starting from an exchange of emails between Nicco and Inventore1, and the born of the project was publicly announced on the 22nd of august 2007.

At the beginning MIB supported only i686 arch, but later the support for i586 arch was added and, thanks to Symbianflo, also x86_64 started to be supported. Very important also the help given by excellent contributors like Grissino, that made possible to support older versions of Mandriva.

Thanks to the work of all the team, 10000 RPM have been prepared for Mandriva 2007.1, 2008.0 and 2008.1

And to listen better to our users we opened, besides the repositories, a Blog and a Forum that we try to follow as better as we can, compatibly with the spare time we have.

On summer 2008 we opened also two new IRC channels dedicated to Mandriva and, in particulary, to the work of the MIB.

In the while, MIB specialized in the preparation of some Live based on Mandriva One, but more completes. Among these, we created the MIB Live Prog, for professional use, and the MIB Live Games, that contain a wide range of games.

For the first bithday, MIB announces the availability of two new MIB Live Games, this time splitted in two DVDs, due to the high number of games inserted onto them.
