Hi
I never trust the new ark for kde4, allways crashes to me ( especially with big archives, or hard compression ) so
at the begining I used rar4linux( commercial) then after the MIB portings of a lot of archive managing tools , like :
peazip, p7zip, ace ,ExtractAndCompress, minizip , I decide that MIB tools are better
Try ExtractAndCompress is like ark , can be used from dropdown menu , porting by astragalo
works smooth to me ......
PS: as you know all kde4 is to new to be trusted at 100% , and this is one of the lacks.....

BTW, for personal use I built plasma-applet-folderview with disabled pop up windows for folders. I don't like this feature (when you move mouse over a folder on your desktop, a window with folder's contents pops up) and I don't see any other way to disable it - only to disable in source code. If someone else doesn't like these popups, I can share the patched package. Just ask me.
