Mandriva 2010 32 bit ram 4Gb
[fabio@localhost ~]$ uname -a
LiLinux localhost 2.6.33.2-desktop-nrjpae.69mib #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 2 20:14:22 CEST 2010 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5400+ GNU/Linux

I am seeing some situations (eg a couple of chrome tabs together take 100%) and the system will become very unresponsive, even the mouse will lag a lot and I can't even launch a terminal....but I need to check with the regular kernel because maybe it is a chrome bug

interesting stuff from dmesg, Ihave never run out of mem before:

IMHO, the last chance when even the mouse lags is CTRL+ALT+F1 then login and kill the process that is eating up all of your resources.

I'm eager to see how the standard "voluntary preemptive" kernel is facing this situation. I wonder if the problem lies inside chrome or in the 2.6.33.x kernel.

Grazie a tutti...

:mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Code: Select all

[zerocool@laptop ~]$ uname -a
Linux laptop 2.6.33.2-desktop-nrj.69mib #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Apr 3 06:46:30 CEST 2010 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU          540  @ 1.86GHz GNU/Linux

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
verkernel="2.6.33.5"
arc=$(arch)
if [ ! $arc == "x86_64" ];then
	tipo="nrj-pae"
	ma="32"
   else
	tipo="nrj"
	ma="64"
fi
urpmi.addmedia --update MIB-${ma}-k_${tipo} http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.0/${ma}/projects/kernels/${verkernel}-${tipo}/ with media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz
urpmi --auto-select --force
urpmi --auto kernel-${tipo}-desktop-devel-latest kernel-${tipo}-desktop-latest
urpmi.removemedia MIB-k_${tipo}
