If you update from kde 4.4.3 or you have some other problems in your Desktop or in Plasma settings, instead to delete all .kde4 folder, it could be sufficient execute the code below.
You shouldn't need to log out > log in, the first command stops plasma-desktop and that last one reloads it, so basically that simulates a log out > log in for plasma.. anyway the important thing is you got it working.
Dal Mandriva International Forum un utile suggerimento: Se aggiornate da una precedente versione Kde 4.4.3 oppure se avete qualche rimanente problema con il vostro Desktop o qualche settaggio di Plasma (o crash di esso), invece di cancellare o rinominare tutta la cartella .kde4, potrebbe essere sufficiente eseguire il codice in basso.
Non occorre fare un log out > log in, in quanto il promo comando ferma il plasma-desktop, il secondo cancella la configurazione bacata, l'ultimo riavvia plasma, così da simulare un log out > log in

If you have errors, slowdowns and crashes in dolphin, especially with the Info window (with F11) during preview of photos and videos, it could depends to libdbus version 1.3.x, so:
you can try to upgrade to 1.4.0 and after you should have no more problems with it!
DOLPHIN: ancora problemi?Per rimuovere i problemi in KDE 4.5.3 circa Dolphin e i suoi rallentamenti, impallamenti e crash, sopratutto usando il pannello Info (quello che si attiva con F11) con preview di foto e filmati:
eseguire da root lo script sotto che sostituisce DBUS e librerie, la versione 1.3 con la 1.4.0
