Is Mono dead? Is Novell dying?

Post by NicCo »

Summary

Attachmate has fired at least some of Novell’s Mono, the open-source implementation of Windows’ .NET, team.

It appears at least 800 employees have been let go in total.

Is this the end of Mono? Of Novell?

Miguel de Icaza from Mono mailing list:
...the CEO of Attachmate has said that roadmaps will continue, I
think that is all I can say for now.
i think that Mono presence is a fact, and also if full project dev will pass to community, will go away, very slowly but go away :)

I think that isn't necessary that 2 framework (Mono and .Net) are perfectly aligned, all .Net 2.0 classes are available under Mono and most of projects use it.

we look forward....

eccole le news... e sono molto meglio di quanto mi aspettassi:
Miguel e il gruppo Ximian hanno portato fuori da Novell Mono e i suoi derivati.
