Re: Request KDE 4.3.4
Work in progress,
the hardest part has been surpassed!
First available packages will be:
Mandriva 2009.1 - 32bit
all the others it should follow soon
Following those Mandriva International Forum discussions:
http://forum.mandriva.com/viewtopic.php ... hlight=mib
and thanks to these others made here in the MIB Forum:
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/mib/forum/i ... =viewtopic
To accomplish users desires,
from some days we are working hard on KDE 4.3.4
... so Kde-4.3.4/QT4.6 first internal testing started some days ago,
and we started writing the necessary patches for mandriva ports ...
After many testing about compatibility with kde 4.3.2 previous apps:
We think compatibility it's very good and the porting it's enough safe,
so we decided to go on porting a very complete and full optimized KDE 4.3.4
It would be available for the most requested Mandriva 2010.0
but MIB does not forget Mandriva 2009.1 users, so we started porting packages for 2009.1
We'll make our best efforts to enable all possible feature:
If you watch the pic, you could notice, we managed to have KTML and WebKit both working:
It was quite hard to select proper SVN revision that builds both with QT 4.6 and KDE 4.3.4
Regarding some of those discussions:
for some people saying MIB does ports app only if there are SRPMs in cooker,
for some other people saying MIB doesn't want to help mandriva with packages,
we suggest to them to stop with the FUD to avoid making the figure of the stupid...
It would be available all rpms and srpms, so if mandriva need, also mandriva could use it
We now prefer avoid to flame, because it's much better answer with facts and not more words...
bye NicCo

Re: Request KDE 4.3.4
This is excellent news, great works guys but I have a small request I haven't seen the src rpm for qt yet but can you include this small patch: https://build.opensuse.org/package/view ... aapgorilla it solves some problems with opera and on my system also with phonon
Re: Request KDE 4.3.4
Ok, your suggestion will be considered,
but we found a program not working with QT 4.6: Skype...
So if we would use QT 4.6, Skype crash, grrr, we use it a lot, damn!
Do you know something about a real solution QT4.6/Skype
It seems that also the Skype-static does not works...

Re: Request KDE 4.3.4
MIB KDE 4.3.4 port will use QT 4.5.3 and not new QT4.6 because:
After finishing entire KDE version for 2009.1 - 32bit built with QT4.6,
we installed it in a fresh installed pc and tested deeper, and we found:
-Serious problems with some qt programs, not working more
-QT 4.6.0 was not faster at all, it was even slower than QT 4.5.3
So: forget about QT 4.6.0, we are rebuilding all again with QT 4.5.3,
we want mainly prepare a safe port for all, not a very dangerous one...

Re: Request KDE 4.3.4
I upgraded to KDE 4.3.4 on my 32bit 2010 laptop. I've been using it for a couple of days.
The install was very smooth with no problems. KDE 4.3.4 is very fast and stable. I have been using it for a couple of days and it has been problem free except for one small thing...kinfocenter does not show in the kmenu.
It's a excellent build. Thank you, MIB!

Re: Request KDE 4.3.4
In the testing version I do not seem to have kdenetwork from MIB but still mdv's 4.3.2 version
Re: Request KDE 4.3.4
You're right, but you must wait some hours and, when i'll finish all the upload, i'll update also all the list.cz.aapgorilla wrote:In the testing version I do not seem to have kdenetwork from MIB but still mdv's 4.3.2 version
REALTIME STATUS:
already in the MIB server all 26 files for Kdenetwork 4.3.4: we uploaded some hours ago
incoming now:
- all 62 updated kde language files
- kdebindings-4.3.4, finally! (in mdv 2010.0 & cooker there are only kdebindings-4.3.1, not well working...)
- all other fixed rpms, there are about 200 newer files, all are tagged with release number 4.3.4-69.3
For you, and fist testers
about the problem, the install process deleted all the kio4-xxx files,
now we could have them again, you could reinstall these files with
Code: Select all
urpmi -a kio4-
with newer packages incoming, the error is not more present, these packages (kio4-***) are not more deleted
Finished all this work, the Public Testing for all could start, I hope for this evening, if all goes fine!
bye,
NicCo
