vlc-1.0.6-69.1mib2010.0.x86_64 requires libx264.so.79()(64bi

Post by rolf »

I've got a 2010 x86_64 PowerPack installation with mib source added to normal updates, restricte, non-free, plf:

mib_64 http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.0/64/basic

With urpmi --auto-update --keep, I got:

Code: Select all

Some requested packages cannot be installed:
lib64btcore12-3.3.4-69.1mib2010.0.x86_64 (in order to keep lib64ktcore9-3.2.4-1mdv2010.0.x86_64)
vlc-1.0.6-69.1mib2010.0.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied libx264.so.79()(64bit))
vlc-plugin-a52-1.0.6-69.1mib2010.0.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied vlc[== 1.0.6])
vlc-plugin-ogg-1.0.6-69.1mib2010.0.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied vlc[== 1.0.6])
vlc-plugin-pulse-1.0.6-69.1mib2010.0.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied vlc[== 1.0.6])
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n)
The lib64btcore12 I installed by this:

Code: Select all

# urpmi lib64btcore12
The following package has to be removed for others to be upgraded:
lib64ktcore9-3.2.4-1mdv2010.0.x86_64
 (due to missing libbtcore.so.11()(64bit)) (y/N) y
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed:
   Package                        Version      Release       Arch
(medium "mib_64")
  ktorrent                       3.3.4        69.1mib2010.0 x86_64
  lib64btcore12                  3.3.4        69.1mib2010.0 x86_64
  lib64ktcore10                  3.3.4        69.1mib2010.0 x86_64
  lib64ktupnp4                   3.3.4        69.1mib2010.0 x86_64
467KB of disk space will be freed.
2.6MB of packages will be retrieved.
Proceed with the installation of the 4 packages? (Y/n)
and I could only find libx264.so.79()(64bit) here:

Code: Select all

# urpmi ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/plf.zarb.org/plf/unity/2009/x86_64/plf/lib64x264_79-0.79.1342-5-unity_plf2009.x86_64.rpm

then

Code: Select all

# urpmi -v --auto-update --keep

  vlc-plugin-theora              1.0.6        69.1mib2010.0 x86_64
636KB of additional disk space will be used.
5.4MB of packages will be retrieved.
Proceed with the installation of the 5 packages? (Y/n)
They go in. Doesn't seem quite right, does it? Thanks.

MIB means backports, MIB is to assist and promote the use of backports
so MIB backports need other backports sources enabled as mdv and plf.

We leave all backports ever enabled, so our backports uses all the new libs & codecs

It was time wasting port all the libs, already present in backports (mdv & plf)

When you need some or all rpms update from MIB you have to config & enable also:

plf-free/backports
plf-nonfree/backports

main/backports
contrib/backports
nonfree/backports

Surely libx264.so.79()(64bit) is inside plf backports!

We published a Guide (is in italian but you need only the code strings to execute into a root konsole)
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/mib/forum/v ... =21&t=1554
Executing the code strings inside, all the repos are nice configured to have no one problems with MIB

Thanks, that makes sense and, indeed, plf backports seem to provide the needed library, albeit newer version, which, I assume will work. :)

Code: Select all

Well, that version seems to be obsolete. Follow NicCo's instructions or read two different ways I have found to install it.

vlc-1.0.6 is working with the newer version of the library from PLF backports, as has been detailed earlier in this thread: http://mirrors.zerg.biz/plf/mandriva/20 ... x86_64.rpm
