I downloaded this file from the MIB repository and tried installing by clicking on it and using the RPM gui and using a console here is the result:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost Download]# rpm -Uvh http://mib.pianetalinux.org/2010.0/32/basic/libnspr4-4.8.6-69.1mib2010.0.i686.rpm
Retrieving http://mib.pianetalinux.org/2010.0/32/basic/libnspr4-4.8.6-69.1mib2010.0.i686.rpm
warning: cleaning stale lock
rpm: symbol lookup error: /lib/libnssutil3.so: undefined symbol: PL_ClearArenaPool
I'm thinking I might have no other option but to reinstall

They already are, that's how this all started. I got an update notice for the new mib firefox.

This is the end of this, I'm going to do a fresh new install, hopefully it will not happen again.

About this topic
http://forum.mandriva.com/viewtopic.php?p=825839#825839

I can answer you:

Some thousands of MIB Firefox 3.6.9 all downloaded, installed and working without a problem

no one problem and/or side-effects encountered with ff 3.6.9, but only you:
the problem could not be in rpms, perhaps your rpm database was corrupt

we, at MIB are the first installers and users of our packages, so if something is wrong, we immediately found and search to fix it:
personally I use ff, with 40 or more pages open, and I had/have no problem with ff packages
personally I installed it, in 2010.1 32 & 64, also in 2010.0, and in 2009.1 with NO problems

We need more data: wich Mandriva version and arch is affected?
Without that, we can't check the problem trying to reproduce it

It could be a wrong repos config, and / or some missing updates from /updates or /backports

I use this guide to configure the repo:
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/mib/forum/v ... =21&t=2223
and precisely, this part
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/mib/forum/v ... 461#p12461

My personal testing:
I have installed, firefox 3.6.9, in
- several Mandriva 2010.1 - 64bit
- several Mandriva 2010.1 - 32bit
and
- two Mandriva 2010.1 - 64bit

and I encountered no problems: the rpms installed an then are working nice

I have not tested until now in 2010.0 32 bit, instead

but all the packages, when prepared have been installed, and tested in all mandriva and arch,
so, I can't realize where the problem could be located, if one problem with mib rpm is present

No problem at all on my PC (Mandriva 2010.0 i586 MIB).
I wonder if you're running some uncommon application or library... can you provide your repository list?
Did you install any other RPM from a third party publisher?

Perfect:
so, you confirm that also 2010.0 - 32bit is working

I know that dago68, when troypulk comunicated his problem, tried to reproduce this error in his 2010.0 32bit but without success, all for him was right, install and working, so he suggested to check better if all the new libs were installed

I made my homework:
Mdv Version: 2010.1 (spring)
arch: I686
desktop: kde4.5
repos: mib-bdk-plf-edu-mug-mut-mud-mrb. NO backports
kernel : lastet Before update: 08sept-2010 mib
software: nothing beyond normal; no servers, nothing from source (compiled).
crash: chromium, firefox, thunderbird, rpm urpmi.
updated from: init 5.

Aaargh: KDE 4.5??? It's a NOT suggested update for MIB
Infact, we have several users, having so many problems with it
Many had to resinstall Mandriva 2010.1 with default KDE 4.4.3
But I don't think It could be the KDE, because FF is gtk based

I see, your repos config is NOT what MIB suggest to have all programs working:
so I explain better

You wrote:
gvedder wrote:repos: mib-bdk-plf-edu-mug-mut-mud-mrb. NO backports
NO backports? It's a wrong config!!! Some MIB rpms could not install and/ or work properly!

MIB = Mandriva International Backports
MIB is a backports font, and as a backport font it uses all other backports fonts:
Mandriva and PLF backports must be enabled,
because we use them, our packages use them, our packages are built with new libs present in backports,
so MIB packages could need some of them and if not present these packages could not work correctly

I use this guide to configure the repo:
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/mib/forum/v ... =21&t=2223
and precisely, this part
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/mib/forum/v ... 461#p12461

And, as you can see, from the Guide,
a tipical "well working" and tested config is the following:

Release Mandriva main, contrib, non-free -> enabled
Release Plf-free & Plf-non free -> enabled
Updates Mandriva main, contrib, non-free -> enabled
Backports Mandriva main, contrib, non-free -> enabled
Backports Plf-free & Plf-non free -> enabled
Backports MIB /basic -> enabled

We only know a thing, now:
It's not a problem with MDV, PLF or MIB repo! You can search elsewhere...

I dont know how to help you, I am sorry... really sorry

urpmi and rpm, use mainly many perl packages,
we didn't use nothing of those for firefox 3.6.9, neither for thunderbird, and seamomkey

We prepared all Mozilla packages, since mandriva 2007.1 and we had never a problems with!
We don't configure and use other repositories apart these: MDV + PLF + MIB
We can't test all possible interactions and side-effects of so many repositories

When I install a fresh 2010.1 (32 or 64bit), that's my way:

1>Install a clean 2010.1 from the DVD
2>Add repository following this guide
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/mib/forum/v ... 223#p12461
3>urpmi --auto-select
4>reboot

and all for me, after the reboot, works flawless!
and it's the same for many thousands of users, following our guidelines

It must be some wrong library (Requires:) used by all the above packages, which ???

Tomorrow, we could investigate a little...
