NRJ + PAE kernels - what are they?

OK, been in hiding for a few months

Tried Googling, all links point here!

What are they and what are the advantages over the stock Mandriva supplied versions?

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 with 4gb, installed the NRJ 64 bit kernel and it is running fine, but am just on a quest for knowledge!

Does seem to run around 5 degrees cooler than the Mandriva kernel. Will try BBC iPlayer, that always heats things up
