Hi,
I have a problem with kde power management after upgrading to 4.5.3 from 4.4.3.
Note that, to be sure, I deleted former .kde4 directory and .config/Trolltech,conf as well.
I noticed that in "System settings/Power Management/Edit Profiles" there are only three profiles (Aggressive Powersave and Extreme Powersave missing). This is not so bad because you can add as many profiles as you wish so I could create them from scratch. But, in the "CPU and System" tab I cannot select cpu power profile anymore (such as "ondemand" or "performance").
Furthermore I noticed that in the "Capabilities" tab some lines are missing now...
What can I do?
Thanks in advance...

Re: kde 4.5.3 power management profiles missing
Maybe I found the answer by myself:
in the Ark Wiki I can read that cpufreq capabilities have been removed starting from kde 4.5.x!
Honestly, I don't understand: while ondemand profile should be reliable by now, I always want to be in the place to choose to sacrifice performance to the benefit of power saving.
So, I put these commands in the "When loading profile execute" field of my powersaving profiles:
/usr/bin/solid-powermanagement set cpufreq powersave
And this one for the performance profiles:
/usr/bin/solid-powermanagement set cpufreq ondemand
Maybe in the real life the difference is not that noticeable but I think Linux is about control...and I want to be in control here...
Bye

Re: kde 4.5.3 power management profiles missing
Interesting:
I noted the problem too, mainly the lack of "ondemand", I thought it was a personal problem...
thanks for investigate into the problem and for the solution, hoping that next KDE 4.5.4 would solve natively the problem
bye, NicCo

just forgot to mention references:

and here, maybe, the rationale behind the kde group choice:
