my story with virtualbox-4.10 i686 and kernel 3

hello developers

when i tried to install the virtualbox 4.1.0 from MIB

i was using the last version of kernel-server from MIB

and there was a problem with it after i installed VB

VB cant open any VB OS i installed it on it (( mandriva , ubuntu , fedora.........etc ))

so it gave a little explain about conflicting with kernel or something like that

and it gave me this command

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

but it doesnt work

so i removed VB

after that i installed mageia cauldron kernel-server-3.0.0.1

and its really friendly kernel then the last one

the temperature is good at it (( that what i care about it at the last kernel ))

any way i reinstalled the last version of VB from MIB

and it works fine without the previous problem

so ....... i figured the problem was the MIB kernel

but it caused a serious problems at (( hibernate , sleep , screen locking , wakeup ......)) features

so is VB package broken

or

does it not compatible with mageia

and if it not compatible with it

why there was aproblem with MIB kernel

We don't understand which OS you have installed, you must explain you better:

• Mandriva 2010.2
• Mandriva 2011 branch
• Mandriva 2012 branch
• Mageia 1
• PcLinuxOS
• others?

a>If you have Mandriva 2010.2 or 2011, we can help you with new kernel 3.0.0 incoming ASAP (perhaps tomorrow)

b>If you have Mageia, we can't help you, this is the wrong place, as we have not the time to try weird experiments...

You can make all the weird experiments you wish with your PC,
but we at MIB can't help you, mainly because we don't do all those experiments, neither we have time to waste, neither we wish to do

MIB Kernels, are kernels prepared for the Mandriva community, and tested with Mandriva, so we can offer none help if you use other OS

Hoping you have understood, this is MIB, and MIB is for Mandriva users, attented by Mandriva users, so we can't support others distro...

You can use all rpms you wish from MIB, you can install all to whatever you want OS, but we can't help you is something goes wrong!
I've already wasted enough time writing these answers, I have better things to do in my little free time available

i am just telling you

i like mandriva and i like all of its communities including MIB

but since there was alot of delays at its releasing date i turn to use an other developed version from it

so i useing now mageia instead of it until it release then i will return to it

Ok, I'm not angry , but I have not time to waste following some impossible answers about things i can't try.

e.g., just in this moment I'm preparing a very optimized kernel for Mandriva 2010.2/2011,
just now files are ready to install and my first tests > Kernel NRJ 3.0.0

When you'll have something to ask about mandriva or mib related, i'll be happy to answer you!

this is the purpose of these web resources (MIB Blog and MIB Forum)

is working like a charms on MANDRIVA OSs.

MIB kernel

IS NOT for whatever other distro.

The only problem I can see

so far

is YOUR OS.

other than Mandriva

it's up to you
