Which version of firefox works in 2010.2 x86_64? Solved.

Post by benbullard79 »

Trying to get a fresh install of 2010.2 x86_64 setup. I've tried these so far:

firefox-13.0-69.1mib2010.2.x86_64.rpm
firefox-13.0.1-69.1mib2010.2.x86_64.rpm
firefox-12.0-69.1mib2010.2.x86_64.rpm

All of them seg fault:

Code: Select all

$ firefox

(process:20221): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size == 0' failed
Segmentation fault
Any ideas?

It seems like some updated lib has been missed, perhaps something like glib2.0,

if you install a fresh 2010.2, then install only firefox without all the updated libs and dependencies from the MIB repo,
this problem could happen if one program when trying to start does not meet the same libs with which has been built

about version 13 or 12?
somebody reported crash problems in ff13 with many extensions, and some problems with flash plugin pages
if so, I can suggest ff 12 where no such problems exist

bye, NicCo

Thanks NicCo. I have Firefox 12.0 working. It seems the SpeedFox extension was causing the crashes. Removed that and Firefox is working now.

Code: Select all

$ rpm -qa firefox
firefox-12.0-69.5mib2010.2
Thanks,

Firefox 13 and 13.0.1 seg faults shortly after startup for me on 2010.2 64-bit. Firefox 12.0 runs without problem.
