Yep...
a stupid typo in the spec file:
I will rebuild the packages and replace them online.

I did a (hopefully correct) rebuild and uploaded this morning the resulting rpms on the repo...
waiting for the list updating.

Hello

i use http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.3/ ... g/xorg1.13 as packets source

I encountered the same problem: I was even unable to install the nvidia driver using the original .run installer from Nvidia.
I even built up on my own the drivers from the cooker srpms getting the same result.
Checking through the release notes I saw that there is an incompatibility of the Nvidia driver and the nouveau driver that Rosa installs as a default. So I completely removed the nvidia driver and installed the Vesa driver: at this point I was able to install Nvidia from the .run file in text mode. I didn't check if with the Vesa driver it is possible to install even the precompiled drivers from repos, but you may try.
Should you want to try to install the original Nvidia driver, check through the options to use the standard text interface, as nvidia defaults to a screen mode that in several cases causes garbage on the screen making almost impossible to correctly complete the installation.

if you use x server 1.13
then
you can install only compliant 1.13 nvidia driver,
those ones in http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... 32/nvidia/
or
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.3/ ... g/xorg1.13

you must start with a clean install

first install a xorg vesa driver
then
restart pc

then
open a kde session

then
unactivate the source http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.3/ ... g/xorg1.13

then
be sure no nvidia driver is installed
- with drakrpm uninstall all nvidia packets (not the libkwinnvividiahack4 kde packet !)
- for all <kernel> installed
in /lib/modules/dkms/<kernel>/driver/video/
delete all drivers

then
be sure in /boot/ there is no components of uninstalled kernels

then
create a local packets source by adding with drakrpm the source /home/<somewhere>/nvidia/304.51 in which you had copied all 4 304.51 nvidia packets from
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... 32/nvidia/

dkms-nvidia-current
nvidia-current-devel
nvidia-current-doc
x11-driver-video-nvidia-current

then
launch the MCC tool "graphical server management"
then
click on the button "graphical adapter"
then let the tool choose the right driver
then
answer ok or yes till the end of the procedure which install the driver 304.51

thus you must have a good installation

@GvMariani

you copied the good 304.64 packet in http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... 32/nvidia/
instead of
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.3/ ... g/xorg1.13

so to install the 304.64 driver we must create a local update packets source /home/<somewhere>/nvidia/304.64 when we copied the 4 nvidia packets

dkms-nvidia-current
nvidia-current-devel
nvidia-current-doc
x11-driver-video-nvidia-current

don't use 304.64 from http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.2/ ... 32/nvidia/

this breaks your system

to recover your system

start your pc with another distribution for example in your disk or a live dvd

then
go to your broken system in /lib/modules/dkms/<kernel>/driver/video/
then
delete all nvidia driver
then
restart your pc with the recovered system
then
install a vesa driver
then
install a good nvidia driver

On rosa lts I followed a similar procedure (the local repo was in the rpm tree when I tried to install the rebuilt driver or in my download path when I tested the precompiled drivers from cooker), but I always got the same error.
So my question is: the problem is or not related to the presence of the nouveau driver?

i recovered my system
and
i installed 304.60 from http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.3/ ... /xorg1.13/

by adding an local packets update source 304.60 in which i copied all packets concerning 304.60
from http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/2010.3/ ... /xorg1.13/

my system runs without pb with 304.60

but i discovered something stange in my /vzr/log/xorg.0.log :

X.Org X Server 1.13.0
Release Date: 2012-09-05
[ 33.208] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
[ 33.208] Build Operating System: Linux_3.6.5-nrj-desktop-2mib Mandriva
[ 33.208] Current Operating System: Linux localhost.localdomain 3.4.11-nrj-desktop-pae-1mib #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Sep 21 02:44:19 CEST 2012 i686
[ 33.208] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=3.4.11-nrj-desktop-pae-1mib root=UUID=e908cf59-4cfb-49c1-a83b-db92200ad065 resume=UUID=bc0ed613-f634-4b17-a125-da7fa04d3954 splash=silent vga=791
[ 33.208] Build Date: 07 November 2012 08:04:13PM

X server 1.13 is compiled gainst kernel 3.6.5 and i use 3.4.11

i can't use 3.5 or 3.6 because with these kernels my webcam does not work

perhaps the 304.64 is compiled and runs without pb with kernel 3.6.5

for nouveau driver
i assume it is compliant with x server 1.13 only if it is the one of last kernel 3.6.5 or 3.6.6

anyway this is the end for my beloved 2010.2 i586

i wait for 2013 March to install a good fixed 2012.1 with at least kde 4.10.1

if my webcam works with the current supplied kernel !

So with a recent kernel OpenGL is working as it should (perhaps you should try also a 3.6.x, I guess,
because they are the ones with the right DRM support for many features of Mesa 9.0/xorg 1.13...).

so to avoid pb we must use kernel >= 3.6.0

Hi. I'm struggling with nouveau <-> dkms <-> nvidia but not with, exactly, these packages, on one of my machines. The nouveau conflict is multi-faceted and there is some good info in the nvidia linux documentation, imo.

See "8.1. Interaction with the Nouveau Driver" on this page: http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L ... blems.html for example. hth
