I had a lot of pain to activate NOUVEAU driver. At the end, what I get it's a desktop in clone mode (same desktop on both monitor). I did not investigate further...

Subject: Nvidia Twinview
Made some tests with Mandriva 2011.0
  • Video Card: Nvidia 8200 256M
  • Video driver: nvidia 295.20
  • OS: Mandriva 2011.0
  • DE: KDE4 4.6.5
Nvidia Control Center, i can view two monitor names and different resoutions
I configured everything, but nothing to do, I can see only from one only LCD,
if I load krandtray I can see only one monitor, no chance to make something

Well as I already said, it was working perfectly with kde 455 on mdv 2010.2, just before to install kde 481... Mdv 2011 is another story.

I don't really see what to edit in this file.

Xrandr -q does not identify a monitor but only see a big "Screen 0", so I dont know what to put for xrandr command....

For bug reporting and diagnosis use xrandr with the verbose option:

$ xrandr --verbose

At this time, I've tried these workaround

- Delete .kde4 ==> Same problem
- Add a new user ==> Same problem

PS : I am perfectly familiar with the management to do for Nepomuk in systemsettings
From a received msg, one user fixed changing manual the config to use /usr/lib64

Code: Select all

The problem has been finally understood
for some reason to some install akonadi 64bit is using the 32bit path, so it can't start

Now our developer says
I fixed the problem with plugins in i686 but the patch couldn't work in x86_64.
Plugin path was hardcored to /usr/lib
We was in hurry to fix akonadi so I didn't think about x86_64 at all.
We'll try to rebuild akonadi with the new patch so new updated rpms will be available ASAP
You must check if it works only after, But you need to remove old akonadi config first, I guess
(.local/share/akonadi).

Or you can just remove mysql plugin path from akonadi configs
(/etc/akonadi, .local/share/akonadi)
.

New release version of SRPM and RPMS packages of Akonadi:
it should fix the x86_64 bit problems with the wrong path of libs

Code: Select all

/SRPMS/akonadi-1.7.1-69.2mib2010.2.src.rpm

/akonadi-1.7.1-69.2mib2010.2.x86_64.rpm
/akonadi-common-1.7.1-69.2mib2010.2.x86_64.rpm
/lib64akonadiprotocolinternals1-1.7.1-69.2mib2010.2.x86_64.rpm
/akonadi-devel-1.7.1-69.2mib2010.2.x86_64.rpm
media_info lists have been already updated on main server,
within about one hour will be synced also in the mirror server

Here's the log of my own general update

Code: Select all

[root@localhost ~]# urpmi --auto-select

Procedo con l'installazione di 10 pacchetti? (S/n)

You need to remove old akonadi config first, I guess .local/share/akonadi

Or you can just remove mysql plugin path from akonadi configs
(/etc/akonadi, .local/share/akonadi)

Code: Select all

rm -r -f /$HOME/.config/akonadi
rm -r -f /$HOME/.local/share/akonadi
and perhaps is better reboot PC, or at least the user

let we know,

Twinview : I might have a lead ;)

At work I have a desktop running mdv 2010.2 and kde 481 by MIB which have this pb with twinview. Let's call this machine A.

I also have a laptop running mageia beta 2 with kde 481 and with no problem with twinview. let's call this machine B.

now if I run the following command on both machine, I get :

on A:
ldd /usr/bin/kwin|grep -i xinerama
(I get nothing)

on B:
ldd /usr/bin/kwin|grep -i xinerama
libXinerama.so.1 => /usr/lib64/libXinerama.so.1 (0x00007f42fa197000)

This means that xinerama is activated (I don't know how) with mageia2, and I am pretty sure that this library is responsible for managing correctly twinview configuration.

I found another post with the same idea here :
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-867877.html

Then dear MIB developers, could you have a look in that direction ?

Thanks in advance,
JC

this could be the culprit...

the strange thing is that in kde 4.5.5 MIB, kde 4.6.5 2011.0 and kde 4.8.0 cooker

ldd /usr/bin/kwin|grep -i xinerama
(I get nothing)

According to the gentoo post, this guy had the same pb and it looks like that the way how kde4 manage multi-monitor has evolved along the releases.

Anyway it worth to give a try... and I am devoted to test it ;)

I thinks it's just a matter of recompiling kwin module from kde-workspace, with xinerama activated. To activate it I don't know how to do it. It's maybe just enough to have libxinerama-devel package installed on the building machine, then cmake engine will detect the presence and will include it, just a guess....

I made updates tonight, probem still here for Strigi/Nepomuk

I've got it on VirtualBox 32bits (no problem with mysql path lib) and on my PC 64bits. The error is allways the same : http://wstaw.org/m/2012/03/18/plasma-desktopOY2438.png

Here the .xsession-errors : http://pastebin.mozilla.org/1524224
