Kernel Farm with drivers for Mandriva Linux and ROSA

Post by NicCo »

We have now organized the kernels in a better way, at least we think so...

In ABF we are storing kernels organized in different folders per branch number,
so. for example, we have one folder for all the kernel versions of 3.0.xx serie...
For all the Kernel LTS versions, we are preparing also the Kernel-RT flavour

All versions prepared to install and work starting from MDV 2010 & 2011 upto ROSA 2012LTS & 2012.1
The files are stored in the new ABF folders, instead those for old Mandriva 2010.2 will stay only in MIB
ABF can't build for old MDV2010, for that reason all our rpms for MDV 2010 are the results of local build

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION (taken by a user comment I've found in the mandriva international forum):
Nym wrote:Kernels install separately, they don't overwrite one another. A kernel upgrade does change the default kernel, but the old one will still be on the list at the boot splash, you'd use the arrow keys to select the older one.
So it's not a system killer to try an upgraded kernel. If it doesn't work, select and older one, and remove the newer. I mention this because you may want to try one of the 3.x kernels packaged by MIB. I'm using MIB kernels on a couple laptops because wifi didn't work with the stock kernel. MIB fixed the problems.
The group folders are organized like repositories, so you could also add them using the 'urpmi.addmedia' commands
So, if you feel good, for example, with kernel 3.4 branch, you can leave this repository enabled to receive updates...

Here are the paths of different kernels for MDV2011, RM2012, ROSA2012.1
kernels 3.0.xx >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/
kernels 3.1.xx >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/
kernels 3.2.xx >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/
kernels 3.3.xx >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/
kernels 3.4.xx >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/
kernels 3.5.xx >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/
kernels 3.6.xx >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/

Microcode firmwares for AMD / INTEL >>> viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3424

kernels drivers >>> http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/kerne ... epository/

Here are the paths of different kernels for MDV2010
Files stay on MIB - Kernel 64bit > Click Here - Kernel 32bit > Click Here

Advice:
Probably, we'll leave only the latest three or four versions, while all the files of the oldest versions may be deleted...

Situation updated to July 24 2012

Repository folders now contain the following kernel versions
  • kernel 3.0.38
  • kernel 3.2.23
  • kernel 3.4.5
Soon:
  • kernel 3.1.10 (EOL)
  • kernel 3.3.x, that's the last known working with recent ATI drivers,
  • all updated Kernel-rt (3.0.x, 3.2.x, 3.4.x),
  • some missing firmwares (?),
  • working drivers for Ati, Nvidia, BroadCom Wi-Fi (for kernel >= 3.2)

A revisited kernel 3.1.10, contains IDE peripherals fix, in all new flavours, all packages are ready
Missing kernel rpms for 2010.2 are building locally, dont worry, need more time (other two days?)

Situation updated to Aug 10 2012

This night has made available new stable version patches for all kernels >= 3.0
- 3.0.40, 3.2.27, 3.4.8, 3.5.1

Some days ago I had already started working (only internally) with the rc1 versions, all of these stable versions should be soon available...
so, stay tuned!

I would like to prepare immediately kernel 3.5.1, so we can start testing ASAP new kernel serie 3.5

Update ^ to 07 September 2012
Go To the previous msg!

ABF is working for MDV2011, RM2012, ROSA 2012.1
now's building > Kernel LTS 3.0.42, Kernel LTS 3.2.28, Kernel 3.3.8 (EOL)
in some hours > Kernel LTS 3.4.10
(in the next days all these versions will be locally build for MDV 2010.x)

after all that,
I'll focus all my attention in completing the first public nrjX, the first version that will be released will the 3.5.3

Update ^ to 29 August 2012
now, our latest friend is is Kernel 3.5.3... :)
