Kernel 3.15.7 for ROSA 2012 2012.1 2014.1 OMV2013 2014 2015

Kernel 3.15.7 for ROSA 2012lts, rosa2012.1, omv2013.0, omv2014.0, rosa2014.1 and cooker (omv2015.0)
This is the second version of our kernel 3.15 in its complex nrj & nrjQL flavours, for ROSA and OpenMandriva Linux OSes!

This 3.15.7 update consists primarily of bug fixes especially regarding support for new graphics cards from AMD and Intel.
It should be noted improvements for the module supporting Wireless Realtek RTL 8152 that we may find very often in mobile devices and portable personal computers, and enhancements to the module Intel Dual-Band Wireless AC 7265 (7265NGW).
Fixed some bugs found in Qualcomm AR3012 Bluetooth module and the introduction of support for usb webcam Genius i-Look 317 and the module 3G/LTE Telewell TW-LTE 4G v2.
Fixed some problems encountered in cpufreq and xen.
Others...

Kernel 3.15.7 - http://lwn.net/Articles/606897/
Since version 3.15.6 we use the new major version of BFQ v7r5

read more about BFQv7r5:
viewtopic.php?p=23575#p23575
Hi,
here is a first good side effect of our effort for getting bfq merged into mainline :)
Two developers reported a regression with two git tasks, which gave us the opportunity to further improve throughput boosting with the workloads generated by these tasks. The result is this v7r5.

As of now, Arianna has prepared patches only for 3.13.0-3.15.0, but we have decided to share with you these patches even before also the other ones are ready.
  • IMPROVEMENT: Improve throughput boosting by idling the device
only for processes that, in addition to perform sequential I/O,
are I/O-bound (apart from weight-raised queues, for which idling
is always performed to guarantee them a low latency).
  • IMPROVEMENT: Improve throughput boosting by depriving processes
    that cooperate often of weight-raising.
  • CODE IMPROVEMENT: Pass of improvement of the readability of both
    comments and actual code.

We have noticed that Kernel 3.15 did not work with the VMWare virtualization
we are searching for a solution to be applied directly to the vmware sources...

VMware 10 with Kernel 3.15:
This is full tested with ROSA Fresh R3 and OpenMandriva 2014

Officially all the professional VMware products are certified for red hat, ubuntu, generally for the -server editions, and currently with kernel upto 3.8 versions:
We can support them using some unofficial solutions with patches developed by us.

The base path for fix files:
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/rosa201 ... kernel315/

Download these 4 tar files
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/rosa201 ... 5/vmci.tar
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/rosa201 ... /vmmon.tar
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/rosa201 ... /vmnet.tar
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/rosa201 ... /vsock.tar

From root, go to:
# cd /usr/lib/vmware/modules/

- make a safety backup of the folder "source", you can copy and rename it to "source.orig"
- now 4 must copy/replace the 4 tar files downloaded, just before, into the ./source folder

- Download this txt file
http://mib.pianetalinux.org/MIB/rosa201 ... mware.vmci

- Edit the file (In root mode)
/etc/init.d/vmware

- Replace all the text taken from the downloaded txt file > vmware.vmci
- save it!

Now you can reboot, or you can rebuild all modules with this command
# vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

To verify if the vmware service is ok
# systemctl status vmware.service

Nicco,
can you check if the bluetooth chip BCM20702A0 is supported? As far as I could understand googling around, the relevant driver should be present since kernel 3.2, but I don't see it in /usr/src/linux-3.15.7-nrjQL-desktop-1rosa/drivers/bluetooth/ Kconfig and Makefile. Only the driver for the broadcom BCM203x series is listed.
In any case the kernel (x64 version) works well in Rosa fresh R3 with the nvidia driver ver 340.24 that I downloaded from the rosa 2014.1 repo. Only the dkms-brodcom-wl driver refused to compile, but tomorrow I will try to install the version present in the rosa 2014 repo and see what happens.
Thank you for your help

The broadcom-wl driver from rosa 2014.1 compiles correctly and works fine. About the buetooth module, to solve the problem, as far as I can understand, I need to learn how to compile a c program and how to automatically launch it at the proper time. Where can I find such information? In the past I just programmed in assembler and in quickbasic, so my programming knowledge is quite obsolete.
About the kernel, I didn't test it thoroughly, but it runs smooth without problems on my desktop and the nvidia driver didn't oblige me to reboot twice to be loaded after the firmware upgrade as it happened in the past. About performance improvements it's hard to say without stressing it, because my desktop is quite powerful and able to hide software performance problems in normal use.
As soon as I have the time I'll upgrade even my laptop (it has an nvidia quadro card too) and will report how it runs.

There is some issue with ABF that is refusing to publish some build tasks already completed with success

but, try click here:
https://abf.rosalinux.ru/kernels_3_15x/ ... uild_lists
following the path of the build list, you can realize what I'm saying, and you can enter the single build task

in your case, you can see we have a "Publishing error" for rosa 2012.1 i586 despite the task have rpms,
so simply you can choose the row with 2012.1 i586, and you can download the needed files from here:
https://abf.rosalinux.ru/build_lists/2087445

save on a local dir, then install them...

I hope that ABF Publishing problems will be solved asap

I am preparing new kernel 3.15.8 just now:
I've replated the TOI with a newer release (it was 3.15.6, current is 3.15.7)

I'll enable the build nrj-laptop for 3.15.8

It's important to check if new nrjQL 3.15.8 has a working Hybernation / Resume,
Please, test this function when kernel 3.15.8 will be ready and available
(I'm starting the builds soon, so you should wait for about 4 hours of rebuild time)

Can you test the HT/SMT Kernel 3.15.8 with your HT capable PCs?
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=4442

your Notebook Asus X53SD-SX191V has 4 HT channels

You may test this that should run great with your I7
