Rosa 2012LTS x86_64

Post by rolf »

I got the dvd iso via torrent, verified the md5sum, burned with k3b and had k3b verify the burn.

I boot the install selection, normally, choose the locale configurations, agree to the license, and say US keyboard. Soon, the screen says "please wait", then the system crashes right to a reboot.

I have booted into the Live mode, am posting from such a session, but don't find the live install icon. So, I try draklive-install from konsole as root.
That gives me a little splash screen that talks of "this wizard will guide you through the install" sort of message.
I click the 'ok' button and the wizard crashes. konsole output of one attempt, having tried no options and --expert, all crash:

Code: Select all

Have you already checked if your problem may be found in Errata page?

Yes, I did look at messages here, links to howto, errata, release notes but have not seen this sort of thing described, yet.
Thanks.

Do you have RAID configured hard disks?
There could be problems often with RAID HD configs and sometimes with HD when in AHCI mode

in a laptop, Asus K52F, ROSA2012LTS EE had a similar problem at boot:
I copied it to an USB Flas device with dd, and from USB starts and works

Code: Select all

dd if=/home/nicco/iso/nameofiso.iso of=/dev/sdx bs=4M ; sync

bye, NicCo

Hi,
No raid. The machine is an Asus P5Q Deluxe that has sata controllers capable of raid but I have always only used them as JBOD.

The error setting up raid message is familiar and I think it is (usually) harmless.

Just before rosa 2012lts was released, I had managed to do an ftp install from the boot.iso and 2011 tree here: ftp://ftp.yandex.ru/mandriva/official/2011/x86_64/

When installation of 2012 wasn't happening for me, I followed the upgrade instructions. there were close to 2000 packages about the last 100 of which were problematic. I did what I could to get most of those installed and it is a working system, afaict. One problem is that the release kernel-3.0 drops to a dracut#/ prompt, can't find the / device, even though dmesg shows it being enumerated, it exists in /dev/disk/by-uuid, and I can mount it, but I am, so far running the 2.6.39 or so Mandriva kernel left behind from the install.

I might give the usb key method a try this weekend.
Thanks.
