/contrib repo for rosa2012lts is almost empty, what to do?

Post by NicCo »

Someone has right complains about the /contrib status
so, I have asked to ROSA devel, and here the answer:

ROSA: /contrib was not finished last week, something went wrong, many tasks were just dropped ( there was no start at all ),
and queue went crazy, about 2000 packages were in build queue at once - this is wrong

NicCo: so what users can do with their needs for /contrib?

ROSA: /contrib mass rebuild should be started tomorrow again
the most of /contrib will be ready and available in some few days

NicCo: i'll inform community not to worry about contrib, that rpms will be available ASAP
it's very important to inform them about, the most complains are all contrib related,
for /contrib, i'll suggest not to add mdv /contrib. that's absolutely better waiting a little

ROSA: the tricky situation here, MDV /contrib is bigger
but it's a garbage - a lot of old packages, not rebuild for years

NicCo: I know that, in /contrib there are more than 10% of stuff segfaulting

ROSA: they can't even be built on current mdv package base

NicCo: Naturally I well understand that not all rpms in /contrib could be rebuilt
but the most of them, more than 80% I hope
at the end, if some important rpm is still missing, users could ever add the mdv /contrib
only to install needed missing rpms, after the installation they should disable repository

bye, NicCo
