How to safely remove that cashew icon from our desktop

Post by NicCo »

If, like me, you hate the weird icon that you usually find with KDE in the upper right corner of your desktop, now you can hide it completely.,

SRPM

RPM
http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/dkory ... noarch.rpm

HOW TO
Go to your konsole, login as root using the "su" command then typing your password, copy the below command line, press [ENTER]

Code: Select all

urpmi http://abf.rosalinux.ru/downloads/dkoryavov_personal/repository/rosa2012lts/x86_64/main/release/plasma-applet-py-cashew-1.1-1-rosa.lts2012.0.noarch.rpm
It will add a new plasma applet, then cllick the DX mouse button on Desktop > Add object, search the word "cashew" and you'll find Py-Cashew, enable it, and it's done!
Denis Koryavov wrote:As you know, there is no a predefined way to remove the Cashew icon from the desktop.
You should use a plugin for it. plasma-applet-i-hate-the-cashew that exists in repositories
is not works.

I found and built a new plasmoid that allows to do that: Py-Cashew. You can find it in my
personal repo on ABF (dkoryavov_personal). Also I plan to use it by default in the new versions
of our distributions. I attached a screen how it looks like on my laptop.
Thanks a lot, Denis!
