MCC, the good old mandriva control center, has been totally dropped in ROSA Desktop 2012 (2012.1).
Release .ISO will include
drakconf-kde4 package, but for now we have to install it manually
drakconf-kde4 is a meta-package that depends on kcm-draks.
It installs:
Code: Select all
kcm-drakauth
kcm-drakfirewall
kcm-drakguard
kcm-drakinvictus
kcm-draksec
kcm-harddrake
kcm-rpmdrake-sources
kcm-rpmdrake
kcm-rpmdrake-update
kcm-update-freq
kcm-userdrake
kcm-XFdrake
kcm-drakdvb
Please install this package and find you favorites Drakx utilites in KDE Control Center (Setup Desktop Environment).

No, it's only a different and unified place to get the same things...

I agree on the goal!
The important thing is to have a system that allows to produce!
But the mcc has always been a highlight of Mandriva!
Mandriva without mcc is like opensuse without yast!
I think that abandoning mcc is a step towards the approval to other distributions!
Of course I am willing to change my mind!

do you know :
- kde ntp settings is buggy see
http://bugs.rosalinux.ru/show_bug.cgi?id=1097
- kde proxy settings is buggy see
http://bugs.rosalinux.ru/show_bug.cgi?id=844
- since the first rosa 2011 mandi is installed but see
http://bugs.rosalinux.ru/show_bug.cgi?id=1099
i am happy to know we can manualy install the MCC
as always replace something working well by something working badly or with less function. i am a bit tired with linux.

No one really likes change, I know, but. . . If you want to avoid any difficulties with new packages, kernels, etc., that are on the "cutting edge", then you should avoid them and use only ROSA LTS. Even so, if you wait a bit until the bugs are taken out, then Rosa will work well, even without MCC.

I just installed Rosa 2012.1 RC x64 and noticed that there is no MCC there. I was little confused since I was busy lately with a lot of work and haven't seen this message.
After reading all messages in this thread I found
this very useful page on ROSA wiki.
It would take some time to adjust my habits, but I think this will be enough for me and that I really do not need MCC anymore.
