How is possibile in linux, and particularly with the Internet Browsers available for ROSA Fresh, to enable the Video Acceleration to play fullhd contents?
A friend of mine has the following hardware:
Aspire R3700, with 2 Gb ram and NVidia ION
Monitor FullHD, rotated 90' degree, to use like a public totem
Software platform:
A clean installed ROSA Fresh x64, with all updates, latest Nvidia R313.xx driver, and also kernel 3.8.5
We started some Full HD videos with SMPlayer:
default was "xv" and the videos were really slow
enabling video as VDPAU or GLx, play is smooth
even with postprocessing enabled, play is smooth
so the hardware specs and configs should be fine
The problem with which we did not found a solution is the performance with all Internet Browser
I searched the web, but untill now, we did not find any really working explaination or solutions...
My friend told me that he has another PC like this, and with win XP he had not such problems
using the same browsers, especially Chrome and Firefox
I've tried many Browsers: Firefox, Google-Chrome, Chromium, Opera, nothing to do...
Question:
Do you know a way to enable VDPAU or GL engine to play embedded videos in web pages?
The goal is to play these fullhd videos In a pretty smooth way, and not totally jerky like now...
Thanks,
bye, NicCo

Re: How to get hardware video acceleration in Internet Brows
AFAIC only opera knows hw acceleration , but only on vdpau , ( vaapi don't even try...) try opera with romp-plugin it works awesome on my geffo 9600.
or you can ply directly the stream with xt7-player ( from contrib) on vdpau profile from settings/video driver.

I installed Opera, perhaps I did not tested it yet...ominomichelin wrote:try opera with romp-plugin
Which is the exact name of opera romp-plugin?
I need to play directly for a browser in kiosk mode, so xt7-player is not a solution
thanks
