I installed both version of Rosa desktop (issued on 19-12-2013 and this one) in different pc and I need to distinguish the two versions.
Is there a number o something else that allow to identify which version I have in:
1) Rosa installed in pc
2) burned cd
3) usb key used to install
4) iso file downloaded

Surely,
for ROSA Fresh an upgrade to KDE 4.10 is possible,
and since few days we have kde 4.10.2 on cooker...

but, it's not sure yet, maybe in the unofficial repo

We will inform you all when this will be decided...

If you want to install ROSA Desktop.Fresh 2012, you can try the new updated and freshest ISOs:

ROSA.Fresh.Desktop.2012 - 32bit > Download the ISO! - MD5SUM

ROSA.Fresh.Desktop.2012 - 64bit > Download the ISO! - MD5SUM
Downloaded and installed 64 bit version.
One problem: trying to update I get an error message.
Configure your Desktop -> System Administration -> Update Your System, first it asks for few packages (urpmi and something else) and this works well.
Then I restart Update, it show more than 400 packet to update and it stops. I reboot and restart Update but an error message appear immediately:

Code: Select all

The password you typed is invalid. Please try again
Note that no password has been asked. No way to go further with system update.

One doubt: if this version include all official updates why it ask for more than 400 packages to update?

I'm pretty sure you confused the ISOs folder where you downloaded the new ISOs
so you installed again the official version available from December 2012

You can check from Live Mode:
- new ROSA theme has the Drop Shadows effect in the border of the Windows
- check the KDE version from Dolphin program, new ISOs has 4.9.5 not 4.9.4
- check the ROSA Media Player version, new ISOs have 1.6

You can check from Live Mode, the following to realize if you have new ISOs:
I really believe you used the old ISOs, so we can find a way to realize that,
from the visual point there are few noticeable difference, and from versions

- new ROSA theme has the Drop Shadows effect in the border of the Windows:
look at the windows borders, try to move windows one over others, you should see moving dark shadows

- new ROSA Rocketbar has few differences:
> only one Stack folder, instead than two
> new ROSA Rockbar has the effect icon of Expo, close to KDE Control Center
> "Configure your Computer" (KDE Panel) is to the right side, close to systray

you can check the exact version of few important program
- check the KDE version from Dolphin program, new ISOs has 4.9.5 not 4.9.4
- check the ROSA Media Player version, new ISOs have 1.6, old should be 1.5

You're right. I checked and burn a new DVD.
But I think it would much better if Rosa add two numers or a letter and a number to the ISO name. This way it will be much easier to identify versions. Till now we had a new version every two months, it make no sense keeping exactly the same name.
It would be useful having also a small file, inside ISO and in installed system, that identify which version one is using.

Checked. Now I'm using last update.

I found a problem: I changed access permission to windows partitions using "diskdrake" tool. At the end it don't asks for writing modification in etc/fstab so permission aren't modified. How can I manage this using graphic interface?

Experimental ISOs of ROSA Fresh updated with new stuff
(only for testing purposes, please, use only to test new: Mesa + Xorg, KDE or Gnome)
  • a> Mesa 9.1.2 - Xorg 1.14.1 - KDE 4.10.2 - Kernel 3.8.11
  • b> KDE 4.10.2 and Kernel 3.8.11
  • c> KDE 4.10.2
  • d> Gnome 3.8.1
Naturally all packages are full updated to the current date!
It's safer don't use these experimental stuff in production! ;)

For the users with ROSA Fresh already installed, it's possible add repos and update DOWNLOADS
These ISOs are published for a limited period of time (less than three months):
after this period they exhaust their task and are replaced by newer products
