We decided to port this software and to optimize it as only MIBbers can, starting from a thread opened on ILDN Forum, exactely:

Intro and description.

Maybe not all of you know that sometime ago has been released the code source of this great software, Xara Xtreme, in order to allow to be developed on the Linux platform.

At the beginning it was immature and uncomplete, but nowadays with the 0.7 release, most of the features are implemented.

On linux, in vectorial graphic field we have the good “inkscape”, that is improving every day more and more, but we felt a lack of a program the could really compete with Mac and Windows software, before Xara news, obviously…

For the other systems there’s a sort of monopoly between Adobe Illustrator CS2 (Win and Mac) and Expression of Microsoft: Macromedia FreeHand has been aquired by Adobe (and it won’t be still developed), and Expression will remain on Windows platform only…

About the performance, Xara Xtreme results the fastest software of vectorial draw. This is because of fastest vectorial engine and thanks to the Xara X platform.

Suggestions for a better usage, post-installation.

Once you have installed the two RPMs, you can view many examples in:
/usr/share/XaraLX

In the rpm we included these examples:

We remember you to set the filter in “All” view if you want to pick a drawing from Designs, otherwise you should expect a crash of the program.
