Perhaps a mistake at the upload time:
I will upload it ASAP...

Sorry ATM I can't do it... :-(
Also in my personal storage the libxatracker rpm is missing (perhaps I wrongly cancelled it before uploading in the MIB repos and copying all the mesa rpms in the final storage place...) and
I cannot rebuild it because the VM I use for such things has installed llvm 3.1 (I'm doing some preliminary building test for the next 9.0 mesa release and this one needs it) and obviously the stable 8.0.x does not build with the newer llvm.

However is also very likely that you don't need that rpm, because it is only needed to support the VMware virtual graphics driver (vmwgfx): if you are running Virtualbox (or no emulation sw at all), then you can still have all the needed mesa bits by simply removing the old libxatracker from 8.0.2 before doing the upgrade... it will remove also libxatracker-devel and consequently mesa-common-devel, but the failures for -devel packages are relevant only if you need to build something against mesa, so you still should not lose anything of real importance by doing this.

Otherwise you will have to download the 8.0.4 srpm from the relative directory in mesa-xorg and built all the packages yourself.

I guess you could need a more recent release of mplayer-vaapi...
here http://intellinuxgraphics.org/h264.html there is some steps to make it yourself.
I would also test with a "normal" video file rather than an URL...

PS: I noticed that you have installed our build of 8.0.2... before that any other thing could you try to uninstall the liblibvadrivers package ant re-test with vlc? It contains a gallium-based state tracker
experimental and rather broken and I'm wondering if this could interfere with a more "regular" vaapi setup...

No.
It is mainly a meta-package to make sure all the -devel files for mesa are installed.

You can only go for the xorg and xorg driver upgrade now, but I fear it will not have any good result...
I guess the real culprit lies in the vlc build, otherwise I can't explain why this error

Code: Select all

[0xb0fe6ba8] avcodec decoder error: vlc_va_Setup failed
while vainfo correctly finds the backend driver.
There is also a libavcodec library that could /should be involved in this error...

If we could find another sw supporting vaapi and see if it works, then we will be sure of such hypothesis.

from videolan forum from Rémi Denis-Courmont (a dev of VLC)
an answer :
t looks like setting up rendering surfaces fails. I have to assume your card driver does not support VLC.

when i try to update xserver
then
it says that "x11-driver-video-vmware" can't be selected

i assume it's not a pb because i don't use vmware
