On 23th, April, accepted student applications for Google Summer of Code™ 2012 have been announced! Among the ideas chosen, there are two Linux Foundation projects which will be mentored by Vladimir Rubanov and Denis Silakov who currently work at the ROSA company.

Under the guidance of Vladimir and Denis, students will redesign the infrastructure used to develop the Linux Standard Base specifications and tools (in order to make it more independent from particular DBMS), and implement runtime checks for applications in the Linux Application Checker tool aimed to evaluate portability of software among different Linux distributions and test applications for LSB compliance.

Google Summer of Code™ is an annual program in which Google awards stipends to students who successfully complete a requested free and open-source software coding project during the summer. In 2012, Google accepted 180 organizations and 1,212 students.

It's not the first time Vladimir Rubanov and Denis Silakov has been accepted to be The Linux Foundation mentors in the Google Summer of Code™ projects. Being members of the Linux Standard Base workgroup, they have mentored different projects concerning the LSB since 2009. In previous years, they mentored projects aimed to improve and enhance the API Sanity Autotest test generation framework, the LSB Navigator portal, the DevChk test suite and other products.
