ROSA company has decided on the roadmap of the next version of its operating system for desktops and workstations - ROSA Desktop 2012. Final release of this system is planned for November, 28th of this year.

The distribution will include the new generation of ROSA brand tools, applications and services to manage user data, work with files in different formats and vizualize content of different type.

Similar to its predecessor, ROSA Desktop 2012 operating system will follow the «one task – one application» approach. The list of applications is expected to be significantly reworked with comparison to the version of the year 2011.

Improvements in the system area are expected, too. We are planning to use the freshest versions of the Linux kernel and other core distribution components, update the tools used to build and maintain system repositories, decrease system boot time and so on.

The following milestones are planned for the distribution:
  • 8th August Technical preview
  • 22nd August Alpha
  • 3rd October Beta
  • 24th October Beta2
  • 14th November Release Candidate
  • 28th November Final release
Earlier the ROSA company has already announced release dates for other products in the year 2012. Thus, server-oriented oprating system ROSA Enterprise Server and ROSA Cloud Platform solution will be available in autumn. Until the end of July, access will be opened to the 2Safe cloud storage service.

A few days delay, due to some unexpected issues at the final step.
